NCAA says that division 1 and 2 universities provide 2.9 billion dollars in scholarships each year to around 150,000 students. That means that the single student is receiving approximately $19,000 in scholarships in their 4 years at college.
There is no need to pay a college athlete excess money for they already receive enough.
According to the Hamilton project a college scholar with a degree earns an average of $1.19 million over their entire career which is twice that of the average high school graduate. As athletes are given this education freely they should have no need for further payment.

The NCAA would either have to pull from funding of the entire school just to pay the few athletes or charge higher prices for the public to view their games. Both ways would be a loss to the public.

Both are significant sums of money but the point is athletes would be paid based on an unfair curvature based on their value to the team or their popularity.
