Essay On Why College Athletes Should Be Paid

Everyone watches college sports. You watch it on tv and sometimes go to the game, but where does that money go that you pay to get in. You are paying the NCAA and they might use in for funds. But they make a ton of money. Which is why they should pay college athletes to play. The reasons are that 1 college athletes are employees and not just players, 2 is they have to pay bills of their own, and 3 is that the NCAA makes a ton of big deals with tv companies and pulls in a ton of money. You may just seem to see that college athletes are just athletes but they are also employees. For instance Division 1 football players put in about 43.3 hours a week and that is 3.3 more hours than the average american works every week. Also the NCAA says the athletes are just students but they miss their classes for nationally televised games that bring in money. Therefore college athletes should be paid to play. Another reason is that they have to pay their own bills. College athletes need money to pay for food and things like that but they do not have enough time for that. They wake up early in the morning to lift or condition then go to class till mid-afternoon.
