Water Desalination
Due to climate change, surging population growth, urban development, and industrialism, the worldwide need for fresh water is increasing. "It is the hope of future generations that desalination can solve that need," (Leon Awerbuch). Water
Desalination is a process similar to the water cycle, used to remove salts and other chemicals from sea water. Salt water is desalinated to produce water suitable for human consumption and irrigation (Water USGS.gov).

Brine reject can be solved using a method developed by Farid Benyahia.
Benyahia´s method uses a variation on the Solvay process that addresses excess salt from the desalination process in the Arabian Gulf/ Persian Gulf area, and excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere (Fluencecorp.com). "The goal is to solve two nasty environmental problems with one smart solution..." (Farid Benyahia).
Water desalination is an important and dependable process for areas of the world that do not have enough clean and fresh drinking water. It removes most water contaminants and chemicals, and uses the ocean as a renewable source. In the future, water desalination may become a necessary source to produce the much-needed fresh water. Although there are a few flaws in the desalination process, it may prove to be have a key role in the future of the world's fresh water production.
