There exists a multitude of contributing factors from W.E.B. Dubois. For instance, Dubois believed in academies, (i.e., lawyers, writers, and administrative skills). The role of education in the black community was to support each other. Keeping in mind, the era was four years after the Civil War. Racism was the main factor that impacted progress of black families. In addition, today academic studies have proved a rewarding endeavor for most blacks. To understand our government and judicial system is imperative to a better life.
Secondly, William Edward Burghardt Du Bois was one of the most influential figures in American civil rights history. He launched the activist Niagara Movement in 1905 and then cofounded the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People(NAACP) in 1909. A powerful intellect, Du Bois was the first African American to earn a PhD from Harvard was a professor of history, sociology, and economics at Atlanta University.
