If it were true that violent video games cause violent behavior, then the question would be, how are young children getting ahold of these M-Rated games? The blame would therefor be on either the children’s parents for buying them these games or stores, for failing to enforce the rules of minors not being allowed to buy M games without being eighteen years or older. A lot of kids or teenagers tend to get caught up in the games they are playing. They start to believe that they can portray the video game actions in real life. Some kids feel some sort of connection between real life and the video games. Children especially have a hard time communicating and recognizing when they are experiencing stress. When children are dealing with stress it often tends to change their behavior. The most common changes include: moodiness or irritability, not doing activities that they usually enjoy and eating and sleeping too much or too little. The APA also says, “While negative behavior is not always linked to excessive stress, negative changes in behavior are almost always a clear indication that something is wrong.” Violent video games are not the problem. The problem is schools and parents not focusing enough attention on the children to see if they have mental health issues. According to the NSBA, approximately eighteen percent of children have a mental health disorder and about five percent of children are severely emotionally disturbed. He shot them because his dad took away his game called “Halo 3”. When his parents had found out he had bought the game without their permission they took the game away from him and locked it away in their gun cabinet. When the boy found out his parents took the game away, he broke into the gun cabinet, grabbed his father’s gun and shot both of his parents in the living room. His father lived but his mother did not. The father blamed Halo 3 for his sons actions. The father explained how his son was injured and fell into a depression, he did not sleep or eat well, all he wanted to do was play that game.
