Often time’s people see women in the military as some badass women who can do anything and to hear about sexual assault in the military is shocking, but in the end, they are women in a society that has a sexual assault problem and that does not just stop when you join the military. In reality, the problem in the military may be more severe than some other areas of violence against women because you are in stuck in the setting with no possibility of leaving and to speak out against it, is putting a target on your career and yourself. The military is supposed to be held to a higher standard than everyone else and when sexual assault becomes a problem within the military that shows how deep the problem goes within society. This issue relates back to the broader societal issue of violence against women because it’s a problem and while there have been steps in the right direction to fix it, it will take all of society speaking up to end violence against women not just in the military but all of
