Video games and other electronic devices are increasingly becoming the leading forms of entertainment among children and teenagers. Research conducted by the NPD Group (2011) people spend billions renting and downloading games. Video games once had a bad reputation among adults. Adults don’t see the point or understand the fun of an activity that requires someone to stare at a television or computer monitor for hours. Adults thought video games would rout your brain, and cause you to go bad, however, adults are increasingly becoming big game players just as children. If they knew the upside playing video games could potentially have they may reconsider. Video games have tremendous upside in the development of visuo-montor skills, hand-eye coordination, as well as the ability to focus. Research reports consistently reveal aggressive thoughts, activates negative emotion have all been associated with playing violent video games. Many government health agencies have made statements about the negative effects of exposing youth to violence (Anderson, et al., 2010).
