Many people are willing to take the risk to fight underage prostitution, so they can rescue victims and provide them safe environment. In the same article, Kimberly states, “One of the most obvious necessities, and a struggle encountered by victim service providers across the country, is finding appropriate, safe housing for victims, because simply too few protective shelters exist to fully meet the needs of this population” (184). In addition to the lack of shelters as Kimberly says, there are actually few safe shelters. It is really difficult to secure underage prostitution victims because pimps have all the information about them. The victims can’t even go back to their own family because it is not safe for them. The American government is making more strict laws on the traffickers, so they can put an end to the underage prostitution and human trafficking. The FBI is able to track the traffickers with advanced technology, rescue underage prostitution victims and arrest pimps. In the article titled “The Second Chance They Deserve: Vacating Convictions of Sex Trafficking Victims,” Alyssa states, “On August 13, 2010, New York Governor David Paterson signed into law Assembly Bill 7670, amending section 440.10(1) of the New York Criminal Procedure Law to provide victims of sex trafficking with post-conviction relief from certain prostitution offenses”(1463). Since prostitution is illegal, this law will help protect sex trafficking victims by not blaming them for breaking the law.
