I had arrived late at the gym on a Friday, approximately two hours before the gym closed, and right after the main dinner rush. There were two male individuals in the weight room offset from the main gym. They seems to be loafing about a fair amount and when I walked in they were still joking and laughing more than exercising. After ten minutes or so the post-meal crowd arrived, a suprisingly large influx of people wishing to work off the calories the had just piled on. As soon as the population in the room began to rise the two individuals began lifting with a fervor, with very short breaks between rests. After the room was completely full however they began to slow down. I would like to be able to attribute this to the theory I described regarding population levels changing behavior, however, I have realized that there are many alternative factors that may be at play. The two individuals may have just became tired and lost motivation, they might have also been forced to slow their pace due to less equipment being free, or they even could have just felt that they had achieved their goals for the day. What combination of these factors and importance of each is still a mystery however, and would likely vary from each individual to
