Diabetes is a disease that is very common in this world till this day. There are two types of diabetes. There is type one and type two. Type one diabetes was once known as juvenile diabetes or insulentdependent diabetes. It is a condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin. Insulin is a hormone needed to allow sugar to enter the cells to make energy. There are many factors to type one diabetes. Such as exposure to certain viruses and genetics. This type of diabetes usually appears during childhood or in adolescence but it can appear during adulthood. There has been a lot of research and they have not been able to find a cure. When the glucose builds up in the body’s blood instead of the cells, the body’s cells are not able to function properly. Anyone can get this type of diabetes but the ones who are at most risk are usually over 45, overweight or obese, don’t exercise, have pre diabetes, have family members who have type ll diabetes, and have had gestational diabetes, and have high blood pressure. It runs in families but they do not know how it is inherited. Most often, people with this type of diabetes usually have no symptoms. They include dry mouth, increased hunger, increased thirst, increased urination, fatigue, blurred vision, and sores that are slow to heal. Complications that deal with this type of diabetes include retinopathy, kidney damage, poor blood circulation and nerve damage.
