I was so nervous bc I felt like the older and more experienced girls would talk about the way I cheer but the loved the way I cheer . On Wednesday , tryouts day my heart was racing while I was at school that’s all I could think about . After school on that Wednesday I had to do my best ! I went on the stage scared not showing it , nervous nobody knew , though but smiling , trying to show them that I was ready for anything I wanted to do for the rest of my life . 1 , 2 , 3 , GO ! I finished my cheer just like that & I didnt even mess up , I was happier

It was springtime during the year of 2012, I was just about to start my summer. I was looking on the internet for sports to do in Kaneland, because I wanted to compete at a higher level. But I was not always comfortable with playing on a travel baseball team, but I knew this could be a great opportunity for me, so I took a risk and after all it, payed off. I asked “Dad would you think I would be able to compete and play on the travel baseball team” He smiled “Yes, but one thing I learned when I was young and playing baseball is; it is a game of mistakes, and the only way you can succeed is if you practice over and over to improve.”…

Cheerleading Tryouts “Come on Lauren you’ve been doing this way too long, you’ve been on the team every year since you were 14.” I said to myself as I walk through the halls of my High School. Today is May 24, the first day of the annual cheerleading try outs and for some reason I’m extremely nervous even though I’m a three year veteran. I go through my classes talking to all my other cheer friends saying how this is going to be a breeze and how we can’t wait to start the season even though my stomach is literally overwhelmed with butterflies. DING DING DING!!!…

It all started in third grade when my parents got an email asking if I wanted to do traveling softball. I had just finished my first season of VAA softball and my friend Katie and I decided it sounded like fun. I didn't really know what it meant to be on a travelling softball team back then, I just thought it would be as laid back as VAA. My first year I loved it and I had lots of fun and made lots of new friends. I would practice with my dad often so that I could get better.…

I have participated in the all-star competition cheerleading world since I was a very young girl. Over the last ten years, cheerleading has not only taught me how to stunt, tumble and dance, it has also taught me so many remarkable life lessons, such as leadership, teamwork, determination, and perseverance. One important lesson I have learned over the years is how to overcome failure as well as learning to control the fear of failure. The all-star cheerleading industry is very competitive; one small mistake in a routine can make an incredible impact on the outcome of the competition.…

I used to be so afraid of failure that I wouldn’t even challenge myself. I thought it was better to excel in classes that I knew I could pass than to challenge myself and accept the grade I earned. Cheer taught me that being a student-athlete doesn’t mean that I have to take the easy way out. I took my first AP class during my junior year and was able to ace it using the qualities I learned through cheer. I even challenged myself further by taking two college courses and an AP class during my senior…

When I was little starting at just 4 years old I cheered for my little league football team in my hometown. What town is that? You may ask yourself. Well it's good ole Ocala Florida home of the horses and home of me. Anyways I was the "mascot" and not the typical put on a costume and cheer the team on mascot, but a cheerleader that got to cheer with the big girls and not have to do as much.…

I went to elementary and middle school in Monroe City, before transferring to South Shelby my freshman year. That was the best decision I’ve made so far in my life. At first, I was worried. I didn’t think that any high school could be so friendly that they didn’t actually need locks on the lockers. But, after my mom talked to the cheerleading coach at the time, I realized that maybe this school is somewhat nice.…

This is my last year of cheer and I have grown so much as a person by choosing to do this amazing sport. Cheer has become such a huge part of my life along with all my teammates and others at my gym. I never thought I would make so many close bonds with this many people. It is really going to be a bittersweet moment when I have to go off to college. I walk into cheerleading tryouts (confidence radiates from my smile) this is moment of truth for my seventh-grade year. I’ve seen every “Bring it on” ever made, so I am pretty much a cheerleading professional. Everyone is beginning to warm-up and stretch, so I begin to follow what everyone else is doing. But after the first few minutes I soonly realise that I should have watched a few less “Bring it on” movies and maybe just the high school cheer squad. Despite being completely wrong about cheer, cheerleading prepared me for my future by letting me know things will not always go my way, but it is my job to make the best of failing.…

I was so nervous because this was such a huge step for me, trying out for a team where you will be performing in front of the school. While waiting for the tryouts to begin, the captains passed out numbers, just like a real dance tryouts, similar to the ones in the movies. Being called out, one by one, there were interviews that were taken into place. Later, groups were assigned. In my group, I knew nobody, which made it worse, so my nervous self-returned, with so many thoughts that ran through my head.…
