On the other hand, Young suggests that we should give our trust to everyone because everyone deserves it and it is okay if people betray you, because you should learn from your mistakes. Although both stories include girls that are going through tough times while losing many family members, one in a world where everyone that is “Divergent” -- Genetically pure and can resist many serums-- are killed, and the other where if anyone between the ages of 13-17 have depression they have to go to “The Program” because they are “ill”. One girl that is “Divergent” knows that she cannot trust anyone because she could get killed. But on the other hand, the girl has to cover her depression so that she won’t be sent into “The Program” and fakely trust everyone because she has no other choice. Whether we let people earn our trust or we just give it to them, we all have trust within us and we just need to find the right people to give it
