In some Universities, trigger warnings are highly considered to be issued and highly important for students who want to be informed by on insulting or harsh discussions. Some may think that Trigger warnings are important, considering that fact that there are college students who go through post-traumatic stress disorder and are emotionally unprepared to receive insulting or offensive material that will only cause them to break down and recollect awful memories. According to the article, Colleges Should Adopt Trigger Warnings by Richson, he asserts the awful issues students go through in college and says, “ Victims of PTSD do not have more to learn about the academic subject matter that is traumatic for them; they have lived it” (Richson 98). Richson asserts how the victims with PTSD live with the disorder everyday day and don not need to relive their condition in American Universities just because they are not being informed through warnings. Considering the students who live with this disorder every day, trigger warnings serve a valid purpose for those who want to be warned by trigger warnings simply to prevent a painful state of mind. Preventing students from encountering a painful state of mind during a schoolroom will help the student ease their pain away by not reliving their psychological issue at school. The warnings outdo the legit purpose of a teacher who cannot teach only because oversensitive students cannot handle the certainty of life. A teacher highly deserves to teach without an oversensitive student complaining over the disturbing material. Students must recognize that when attending Universities they are putting themselves through definite obstacles that are needed to overcome in order to succeed in life. Simply by having trigger warnings issued in college classrooms, the alerts defeat the purpose of developing students critical thinking skills, which will be useful in the real world when the student begins their occupation. Without the ability or skills to think at a higher level, a student will suffer much more in the real world so by delivering trigger warnings in college the issue only worsens a student 's future.
