Firstly, since the transition is scary get somebody or a peer to help you through it. Parents are a huge part for helping you get through freshman year. They can aid you in many ways. Each percentage point on a grade increases or decreases the odds of repeating 9th grade. High achieving students are considerably less likely to experience 9th grade a second time, being in the same boat is vital. The more extra activities and work that you set out to do will earn you more credits. Credits insure that you will graduate to sophomore year. Students wish to attend class more frequently when they have good relationships with teachers and peers. When you care about school, and like the things you do there, you will do better and succeed with more ease otherwise. Students fail when they become disconnected and not enjoying what they're doing in class.
Bad habits are the worst thing you can get into in High School. One is skipping class or deciding not to go to school. This then leads to not caring and giving up. Another bad habit would be not liking your teachers because of their behavior. That will cause disrespect issues and burden you for years. Lastly, the worst bad habit is doing things the last day you can do them. This will make the work most of the time bad and not as good if you were taking your time and giving it your all.
