There is a battle taking place on what should be fulfilled with transgender restrooms. Some sources convey that the public restrooms should be coed while others reinforce they should remain the way they are now. Of course, there are some details within, such as, a third bathroom should be installed, single stalls should be initiated, and others think the whole situation should be left alone. The conflict of whether or not any of these should take place has recently been hit hard in the media. Parents are roaring alive, LGBT community is taking a stand, and southerners are fuming. Transgenders say they want this because of safety infractions, but doing so would just be causing more safety issues. If restrooms were based off of gender identity, who or what is going to stop one of the 747,408 registered sex offenders (NCMEC) in the US from waking up one morning and saying “I feel like a woman today.” “It doesn’t make any sense at all to let grown adult men-strangers- to be alone in bathrooms with little girls…”(Dastagir). Why was it ever an idea to have students in schools use coed restrooms? That would be a bad situation and fuming parents would come out and protest it till the mole hill has turned into a mountain. How would overprotective dads react if their daughter walked out of the restroom and told them an older man was peeking in her stall? For their argument about saying Transgenders aren’t getting the rights of the rest of the Americans, does America segregate blacks into their own restroom? Wasn’t there a time when it would have been considered dangerous for them to share a facility with the whites? There is still one question of which doesn’t have a clear answer; “why [are we] [ ] changing something that isn’t a problem…”(Dastagir). This focus on what is wrong with the laws set in place now can result in an extensive fight of which has not been
