In the film Thelma and Louise, two best friends plan a weekend road trip as a duo. This road trip was meant for Thelma and Louise to leave for a few days and have some time away from home. Thelma is a housewife whose husband bosses her around. Louise is a waitress, and who is Thelma’s best friend. Unfortunately during their roadtrip Louise and Thelma ran into some trouble. Due to the trouble that these ladies could face, their short trip away has turned into a long term getaway.
The trouble that Thelma and Louise face together had started after Louise had shot and killed Thelma’s potential rapist. After this incident that Thelma and Louise faced, the audience was able to see the character of these women. Thelma’s character …show more content…
I was able to connect with Louise and Thelma throughout the movie either because these ladies reminded me of myself or one of my friends. The film also had a mixture of good and bad situations that these ladies had faced, the bad was not really my style of what I think should have happened in the movie. I didn’t like how Thelma was near rape and Louise came behind and pointed a gun at Thelma’s potential rapist. Not only did she point the gun at him, she had shot him dead. This incident made the movie more adventurous but more problematic. The trip that these ladies took was to get away from reality, but it had brought worse things to their lives. It gave Louise a lot of hopeless thoughts. Especially because she made an assumption that people wouldn’t believe that Thelma had been raped. Instead of going to the police it was decided that they would escape and leave for good. Sadly, because these ladies decided to run away from their problems and believe these thoughts they became isolated on what was actually happening in their case at home. The audience was able to get a glimpse that the detective was on these ladies side, but sadly since these women were trying to escape they had gotten surrounded by cops and instead of facing the consequences that these women believed would happen to them they took off and drive off a
