The last SFPD investigators went by the names of Michael Maloney and Kelly Carroll. It had been the two of them who were the first to send in DNA evidence from the Zodiac’s letters. This did result in a partial genetic profile and it is what freed Allen of this burden. He then died in 1992 with proof of innocence.

There had been a diner he went to and he ended up sitting not too far from another customer. This other customer turned to him and said, “You have no idea what it's like to have to kill.” Harris was in pure terror. When Gary Stewart’s book "The Most Dangerous Animal of All" came out Harris knew. He knew it was the man at the diner.
Gary Stewart is not the only one to think he has solved this case. A man by the the name of Tom Voigt claims to know every detail of the Zodiac. He believes he knows who can claim the Zodiac's identity. There is a website called the ZodiacKiller.com that Voigt created and continues to run. “The most important thing about the site is that it's like a funnel, people are sending me new information everyday”, says Voigt. He believes the code that was solved in 1969 is the key point to it being Richard Gaikowski. Voigt claims that in the cipher there where the letters GYKE, which was Richard’s
