Both characters show very less traditional femininity. This is recognizable when, Dona is very offended by the fact that the men get to go hunting with guns and she has to wash the clothes. Dona is capable of transitioning to new atmospheres very well. She is excellent at working with what she has got in that moment, which resembles a lot to Toby. Although both characters have similar traits, Toby’s environment allows her to live on her own and make a living meanwhile Donna is trapped with the few humans left and needs their help to stay protected. This allows Donna’s vulnerability and helplessness to be seen. Throughout the novel Donna is treated with respect while Toby is not a has to deal with her Boss taking advantage of
