Essay On The Year Of Living Biblically And The Autobiography Of Jesus

The books that I chose to read for this assignment were The Year of Living Biblically by A.J Jacobs, and The Autobiography of Malcolm X. I also chose to listen to “Letting Go of God” by Julia Sweeney. The two that I am choosing to focus on are The Year of Living Biblically and “Letting Go of God” because after reading and listening to them, I feel that there is a lot to compare and contrast and that I learned a lot in the differences in their two situations. I really enjoyed how both authors kept a little comedy in each of their stories. It kept it easy to listen to/read. If I were to listen to a woman talk about her transition to Atheism or a man’s year of living the bible literally, it would have been extremely boring. At first, I even expected them to be boring. These stories ended up being extremely interesting to me and were very relatable and comical at times. I found this book to be very inspiring. I thought the transformation that Malcolm went though was absolutely amazing. His situation was terrible, and he was going downhill very quickly. It was amazing to me that faith was what changed his entire life. This inspired me because after reading this, it had helped me to think that no matter how bad I think things are, there is always a brighter side to it. As a college student, the smallest things can seem like the end of the world, but when you take a look at the big picture, small little things aren't all that bad, especially after reading such a moving book like this one. Malcolm X came out of a very bad place by faith in his religion, and made a big impact on everything. It was truly inspiring to read. I always knew the name Malcolm X, but never really knew anything about his story until
