The Tantalizing Chicken Showdown:
Lean Cuisine vs Tyson
In one corner we have the crispy dinosaur quartet one fallen victim to the volcanic barbeque sauce. In the other corner are the chicken brothers ensconced in a pool of sesame noodles. Advertising is a way that companies entice a consumer to buy their products. This is done by using the persuasive appeals: ethos, pathos, and logos. In this essay, I will be analyzing a Lean Cuisine ad for sesame chicken and a Tyson dinosaur chicken nugget ad and deciding which ad was more effective in reeling in the consumer.
Both ads that I am going to analyze were found in an US Weekly magazine. According to a survey of its demographic from 2016, it states that 77 percent of its readers are women and

I know for a fact since I have purchased these exact nuggets before that the shape of the dinosaur is not as defined as it is in the picture. The crisp elongated limbs of the dinosaurs presented in the picture look more like a misshaped blob in the purchased version. The t-rex dinosaur nugget that is upright in the picture is also unrealistic since two dimensional objects have a hard time standing up on their own without support especially if the t rex’s legs are deformed. Therefore, the ad violates the principle of ethos which is presenting information in a reliable ethical way. The other persuasive appeal that is presented in this ad is logos. By having “no antibiotics ever” in bold red letters at the top of the page, and also a statement at the bottom of the ad in white letters about having no antibiotics is a way to win over people that are concerned about the health benefits of the chicken nuggets. Parents tend to not want to feed their children something that could be harmful to them. The ad emphasizes Tyson’s Natural quality twice so the overly concerned parent demographic can be won …show more content…
There were too many inconsistencies in the Tyson chicken nugget ad. The crumbs on the napkin when none of the chicken nuggets have a bite out of them, and the fact that the limbs of the dinosaurs are proportioned so they have the ability to stand up on their own is not realistic. The lean cuisine ad does a much better job in drawing the consumer in by using an attractive black background paired with noodles gleaming with sesame sauce, and crispy golden brown chicken speckled with sesame seeds. The description given at the top is another way that the consumer would easily be won over. It is hard to not want to buy something that has “Ripe red peppers a pinch of sesame seeds and kitchen worthy

The objective is to create an ad that show how “delicious and tasty is the new boneless chicken.” In addition to the other commercials, KFC can create a new commercial with a family gathering on the table eating KFC chicken, and their family dog is eagerly waiting for the kids to throw him the bones from the chicken. The puppy sad eyes look at the boy and the boy says, “Sorry Rex, is KFC boneless chicken!” The commercial would end with the family enjoying boneless chicken and the dog lying next to the dinner table. The commercial can really show how a family would enjoy a new menu item, the chicken it remains original recipe, but with no bones. The previous commercials can change the dialog, instead of saying, “I ate the bones,” it can admire the new menu item and say, “Mmmm, KFC boneless chicken.” Mass media advertising can be very effective because it can target a large-scale audience. The purpose of advertising is to promote the new menu item and to cultivate a long-term demand (Thomas Clayton O’Guinn, Allen, Semenik, & Scheinbaum, 2015).…
