1) What was the importance of the beliefs and ceremonies in the Salish religion?

The beliefs and ceremonies of the Salish tribe were very important. The Salish were filled with many spirit forms, demigods, transformers, guardian spirits, supernatural beings.The Salish also had a strong belief in the spiritual world they believed that there were spirits that roamed the earth such as the sky god or the water god and much more. This was important because the had ceremonies worshiping and thanking the gods which were a big part of the religion. The statues were usually human figures and sometimes had its arms raised in a way that signifies “thank you”. The Salish women used mountain goats’ wool and small wooly dogs to make textiles.The Salish people raised these wooly dogs to shave and make these textiles that the Salish women later than weaved. The woman used a simple loom to weave and the wooly dog that they used to get wool from had a resemblance to a pomeranian.The Salish also made the masks that were used in the dances, and the masks were usually colored and were carved into an animal or an object.The Salish people also used to make bark or dugout canoes that were used for fishing and transportation.
