The Scarlet Letter, written by Nathanial Hawthorne, takes place during the 17th century in Boston. This Novel in its whole, is bound with nature various times. Hawthorne generously applied nature in this Novel to reflect about human Nature itself and how Nature changed it, to add imagery and compute a theme in the novel. Hawthorne also used Nature to introduce deep perception into the characters. Nature plays a significant role in the Scarlet letter. Hawthorne used the “black flower of civilized society” to contrast against the rose bush.
