Essay On The Pros And Cons Of Military Draft

Pros of the Military Draft Research shows that the military draft makes our country stronger by making our government and people stronger as a whole. Our nation would not have to struggle to find enough people to fight. A country with the draft would be brought together in unity in a sense of nationalism. The draft also has worked successfully for America in the past and continues to work for foreign countries still today. Drafting women would also allow more people into the military. Possibly having the draft come back as discussed in government would show just how these ideas would come into play. With a military draft army in place of a volunteer army there would not be a lack in troops needed to protect our country. Not only is our volunteer army lacking in people to protect us but we are training foreign counties men to fight for us. As stated in KDI School’s Draft or Recruit one of the weaknesses of volunteer drafting is us having to recruit foreigners (pg 5 Military Service: Draft or Recruit). During the very beginning of the draft, World War II was going on, as shown on the chart on page 7 of Americas Military Population the draft enlisted 9% of the population (pg 7 Americas Military Population).
