Nowadays, social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, have gained lots of attention all over the world. People seems to be addicted to it, but they have not realised that it is ruining their future without their conscience. In fact, almost everyone have had a problem at least once in their life time. A stranger can hacked our Facebook or Twitter without our knowledge. Our identity can be stolen from criminals or even by our friends. How many people have seen their photos or their friend’s photos in a different account that do not belong to themselves? How many people have received from themselves a blackmail messages? First, it can be confusing because someone is using your Twitter or Facebook to send you a message on it. In 2011, A girl in Germany, named Thessa, wanted to let her friends know that she was turning 16 and that she has invited all of her friends to the party, but unfortunately, she forgot to check the privacy setting. The party invitation was sent to everybody in Facebook. More than thousand teenagers and young adults showed up to the party. At the end, her parents had to cancel the party and call the police to get rid of the crowd who were installed in front of their house (Facebook Follies, CBC Doc-Zone online). It is always importance to check the privacy setting before sending some important stuff such as document, invitation, personal information, photos and videos. The solutions With social media a person can build a strong relationship or even business partnership without meeting that individual in person. It can also help to create a positive self-image that can be helpful when applying for a job or for a post in the government. It is best to avoid inappropriate photos, comment, and videos into it.
