The first goal the researchers had been to be able to control a nuclear reaction which took 2-3 years. After reporting the success The Manhattan Project had more money, facilities, and people. The main facility was in Los Alamos, New Mexico and was led by Robert Oppenheimer. About 4 years into The Project, the first bomb was tested at The Trinity Site in Alamogordo, New Mexico. The bomb that was tested had a huge 200 mile blast radius and a mushroom cloud over 7.5 miles tall. The Manhattan Project was super classified, it was so secret that the Vice President at the time didn’t even know it existed until he became President. During The Manhattan Project there were multiple teams that did different parts of research without knowing anything, they just thought they were being sent to do research for a project. One branch produced Uranium-235 by using a Graphite Reactor, a machine that produced isotopes. Another produced Plutonium-239 from the Graphite Reactor as well. All the products produced by the branches were sent to the main base to assemble bombs. But how did The Manhattan Project change
