I believe he was courageous because he talked to the cops about his family secret. He was responsible when he did all the chores around the house. David also showed humility when he kept getting relocated from foster home to foster home, and he never complained. Another trait he showed throughout the book was self-control. An example would be when he was being abused, he never fought back plus he didn’t allow it to cause him to be psycho at school or home.
The part of Dave’s life I admire most is his life with his biological mother. I admire it because he was obedient to his mother and foster parents. He also forgave his mother even with her abusing him. David was respectful to everyone even to the people who bullied him. He showed love to those who treated him bad and who didn’t deserve his love.
Although he was abused, as well as, in and out of foster homes, he turned out a successful man in life and has a son of his own. The book, The Lost Boy, gives an accurate and honest account of this subject because child abuse is a real thing. Writing about what he experienced helps others who maybe or have been abused themselves to realize, despite the abuse in their lives, they too can overcome and become successful in whatever it is they desire to do in
