Even people from the south today remember him as a great man, not just a president, but one who made an impact on this country. The memorial is like a gathering place for many people. They preform and give speeches. People preform here such as Marian Anderson and Martin Luther gave his “I Have a Dream” speech on the steps of the memorial. Many of Lincolns inspiring speeches and quotes are on the walls of the memorial to inspire people. They remind us that not only did he try his best but he helped us as a country and give us a backbone to authority. This splendid memorial gets more than 3,000,000 tourists a year. They come to remember a man who put his ideas to use and freed slaves, and set humans rights straight no matter their race, nor religion.
I learned so much, not only about the Lincoln Memorial, but about Abraham Lincoln himself as a man and president. Starting with six moves and dying family members to 750,000 deaths in the civil war. Abraham Lincoln truly was a great man and we need to remember his life as a country. I can’t wait to see this spectacular site when we go to Washington D.C. next year.
