The Help is a powerful, appealing and inspiring film directed by Tate Taylor, because it reminds me of something that I didn't know about, but I could tie it into today. The movie is about a writer who interviews African-American maids to know point of view of working with white families. The maids talked about the white families that they work for and their poverty they face on their daily life. This movie gives a perspective of the Civil Rights movement in 1960s, and the problems the African-Americans faced during the time in American South. It studies the problems that racial groups went through, and ideas about equality. The Help takes place in the 1960s era in Jackson, Mississippi. In Jackson the white families hire black maids to take care of their children and to do house work. Skeeter is a college graduate and wanted to pursue her career in writing, she also is a white women. As an inspiration, she decides to focus on black maids that work in her community. She first interviews Aiblieen who has been hired by Skeeter’s best friend’s family the Leefolt’s. By interviewing Aiblieen, she is becomes aware of the wealthy white families and their behavior towards the maids. Later, Minny, joins both to tell he experience of working at the Holbrook’s. The characters gave a good performance, because every emotion they present made me feel a part of the story. The main characters did a great job of convincing me to watch the movie again: Abileen, Skeeer and Minny. I am inspired by Skeeter’s story, as being a white woman she is not like her other friends who treats Abileen, Minny and other maids with discrimination. She believes in equality and is willing to tell every one that slavery does not exist anymore. She helps the maids to get their voice out to people to tell them, what it is like to work as an African-American
