Throughout the past 20 centuries the advancement of technology especially buildings have been far beyond anyone 's belief. Yes, structures like skyscrapers to even The White House are marvelous works of architectural geniousness, however one that stands among these magnificent structures is The Great Wall of China. The starting point for this goliath is around 476 BC - 221 BC. And it got finished around 206 B.C. Even being built over 1900 years ago it would be just as impressive if it was built today. When this marvelous wall was first created it was just wall segments used and built by various different states including the Yan, Zhao and Qin. Anyone that could, helped to build this because it was all manpower. Yes, no cranes or heavy machinery just pure, rugged manpower! …show more content…
The Wall was recently inducted into the new top 10 wonders of the world in 2012. And for many centuries has been admired worldwide (Turnbull & Noon, 2007). Located in China it stretches from the East at the Yellow Sea and travels toward China 's capital Beijing. The total amount of wall, even the parts branched out, is somewhere around 21,000 km long (13048 miles) but nobody knows for sure since so much of it is deteriorated. The main part of the Great Wall is approximately 6,000 km long (3,728 miles) and it stretches through many mountains, deserts and grasslands. In fact the most of The Great Wall is stretched along the Yin Mountains. In Chinese history the Great Wall will probably be the most significant structure ever! The purpose for the wall was to protect China and its people from Huns and barbarians attacking from the North, which were set on killing mass numbers of the Chinese natives.
