F.Scott Fitzgerald novel focuses on the male characters in his story “The Great Gatsby” But the story has many female characters as well with different motivations, goals, desires and needs. The story is about a group of people living in the west egg where conflict arises when gatsby falls in love with Tom’s wife Daisy, leading to a series of misfortunate events. The three main female characters Daisy Buchanan, Jordan Baker, and Myrtle Wilson have a lot of differences and similarities in desires, lifestyles and characteristics. The main female character Daisy Buchanan has more alike with Myrtle than Jordan. Daisey lives a lifestyle that most women do, Jordan’s is very different. “It seemed to me that the thing for Daisy to do was rush out of the house, child in arms. She is quite disrespectful and unattentive. “‘Daisy! Daisy! Daisy!’ shouted Mrs.wilson. ‘Ill say it whenever i want to! Daisy Dai---’ making a short deft movement, Tom Buchanan broke her nose with his open hand.”(Fitzgerald #37)Myrtle is spoiled and rebellious and stays with Tom because of his money. She was told not to say Daisy’s name but does it anyways causing Tom to break her nose. Myrtle’s Husband is too poor and busy with his work to give her any attention. Hence why she goes with Tom. “‘I married him because i thought he was a gentlemen’ she said finally. ‘I thought he knew a thing or two about breeding, but he wasn't fit to lick my shoe.’” Myrtle has decent guy but he has no money, Daisy has a terrible guy but he has a lot of money. Myrtle is a gold digger, She doesn't realize that her husband goes and works super hard for her. The world ‘Gentlemen’ in the quote means rich. Myrtle is a gold digger and doesn't the good in her man, which makes her different from the other two main female
