Essay On The Giver Book Vs Movie

I read the book “The Giver” and then watched the movie based on that book. In my opinion, I enjoyed the book much more than the movie. “The Giver” is about a dystopian community where there are no decisions or pain. A boy named Jonas learns about the emotions and pain and suffering that no one experiences, and then he decides to try and bring everything back to the community. I enjoyed the book version of “The Giver” more than the movie because in the movie Jonas is able to show his friends everything that he knows, there is a difference between the ages in the book versus the movie, and there is a lot more action involved in the movie.

To begin with, Fiona doesn’t know everything about anything in the book and neither does anyone else. Personally, I liked that Jonas had to do something special in order to make his friends understand anything. There was

In the movie, there were much more technologically advanced devices, but in the book the technology was more timeless. People probably enjoyed seeing all of the advancements, but I personally find the technology in the book version better because it is more timeless. You could read the book in twenty years and the book would still have that dystopian quality, but the movie will later become outdated. It may also be argued that the movie was better because there was a specific antagonist, the Chief Elder. The Chief Elder was totally against the memories returning to the community and was trying to do everything in her power to stop that from happening. I do not agree with this because I like that the main antagonist in the book is the community’s ignorance not the Chief Elder. So even though people may say the movie was better because there is a main villain or because the community was more advanced in technology, but I think that the book was much

Each event was described clearly, whereas in the film many were left out or unspoken of. I feel as if the movie focused on just the main parts of the story, but in the book every little obstacle was written out. In the book, however, it went into more detail about how distant she was with her father. In the end, both the book and the movie have many similarities and differences. In my opinion though, I like the book better than the movie, because it goes deeper with important details than the movie does. The main characters Julie and R’s character development doesn’t change the way their relationship turns out.…

For decades, popular novels have been published and years later followed with a film. Although the movie tends to portray imagery, the course of events in the book tend to contrast to those of the film. This became abundantly clear when I read the book and watched the movie, The Natural. In both the novel and the film, we learn about the life of a baseball player named Roy Hobbs, who was born with a talent and was given the ability to pursue his goal of life. Although his mindset was determined to break all the records in the game, many obstacles stood in his path ultimately skewing his priorities and driving him towards a path only ending with failure.…

Why I preferred the book well to start with it gives lots of details instead of the movie. It does actually mean a lot if I like a book because I tend to be very picky about what I read. the book plot, story, theme, everything was so well done and thought out that once you start reading it, it is hard to put it down and stop reading. Reason why it is so hard to stop reading it well every chapter pretty much end with a cliffhanger. Great books like this one are very hard to come by.…

Ironically due to the storyline; the book is better than the movie, because it is shows better description, character analysis, and it gets the point across to the reader to show what leads up to the main idea. While, the movie it is more vague and fast paced so it's hard to comprehend the storyline. The book is more illustrative than the movie. For example, the…

But the book unlike the movie gives more of a personal connection. However, in the film much emphasis is placed on the how the story is viewed and presented with that being done the viewers are able to see what the characters look like, and what the setting of the town looked like. However, the individual reading the text will not have these feelings from the book because the description the people and the environment in the text is extremely vague. Davis feels as if the film deviates too much away from the primary source she also acknowledges that in areas that were the evidence was not present that a “certain leap of faith” had to take place in the story which is something that she created. When a filmmaker creates a film there is an artistic license, this doesn’t just stick to the film makers.…

It seems an unfair view to expect a movie about a book to be exactly the same down to every single detail. Communities of fans will always find something wrong with a story, for it has “failed” to match expectation. Books are a place where someone can be dragged into the story and forget about everything else for a short while. Movies do the exact same thing, except it is seen as an easier way than books for a lot of people. Ignoring obvious differences (such as the fact that one is in picture form, and the other is in words), movies and books may not be so different after all.…
