The future version of Macbeth is the best interpretation of the play; the setting, character development, theme and production value are all more effective in this version when compared to the stage and modern versions. The setting supports the best visual representation, Lady Macbeth’s character development is portrayed better throughout the play, and the theme is easily explained from beginning to end. All of this is easily seen through the higher production value compared to the other two versions.

Therefore it allows you to make an interpretation that something bad might happen to her later in the play. In the stage version, Lady Macbeth seems more angry than sad when she has her sleep walking episodes. This contradicts what will later happen in the play. Lady Macbeth later kills herself and the audience might have not been able to see that foreshadowing where it is clearer in the future version. “Nought’s had, all’s spent, where our desire is got without content: ‘tis safer to be that which we destroy than by destruction dwell in doubtful joy.” (Act III, Scene II) Lady Macbeth is saying that she has everything she wanted. She still isn’t happy and wishes she was dead like Duncan. This is where she first shows signs of contemplating suicide. The modern version of Lady Macbeth seems more cold and emotionless. This isn’t true because she has all of that built up guilt inside of her that is about to burst
