What Is Beowulf As An Epic Hero

The early literature of the Anglo-Saxon period took the form of length epic poem, praising the deeds of heroic warriors. The poems reflected the reality of this lifetime. To the Anglo-Saxon these epic poems were far more than a simple entertainment, it was history lesson, moral sermon, it instilling cultural prick ,and teaching how true hero should behave like in Beowulf poem , beowulf represented the heroic figure he was fearless ,helpful,strong , generous ,and honest.

However , in the christian form she exemplify the foundation of evil . according to the poem when beowulf defeated her “ a light appeared and the place brightened , the way the sky does when heaven's candle as it shining clearly “ as it shows up the implication of christian holiness that hell has been purged of its evil and clans nature becomes pure .

Then at least the dragon character , is another form of evil in the poem . in pagan form , it represents death itself , also it represented the vanity of human wishes as well as the nullability of time . in christian form it symbolized the devil himself also the battle of good and evil, as beowulf sacrificed his life to defeat the dragon , protecting his people , which is similar to the salvation of jesus to the world.

All of this evidences shows that Beowulf was a special epic poem and the reason for its survival that it represented a lot of moral heroism and symbols combining different points of view between the cultures that makes it an attractive poem. all of this morals and beliefs that are found in Beowulf , inspired and made different masses wrangle over it ,and make changes to it that were uniquely their
