The poor in the Roman were treated unfairly and sometimes used for the entertainment of the aristocracy. Roman plebeians felt that the aristocracy were not trying to make life better for all of Rome which lead to civil wars in Rome. If Rome’s upper class would have helped the lower class, the Roman empire could have survived. When Rome was in the beginning stages everyone was peaceful, but the unwillingness of the upper class to negotiate with the lower class created tension and made the lower class resent the government. Which lead to a poor economy and let’s face it without a stable economy a government can’t survive for long. It only makes since that the Romans did not last long after this.
Why Rome fell? The simple answer is they were too ambitious, greedy, and stubborn to realize they had something great to build on. The real reason Rome fell is the same reason it thrived, the spoils of victory are a blessing and a curse. Rome’s military, politics, and economy led to its downfall.
