Another difference between The Giver novel and film is the fact that Jonas was not pursued in the novel. Contradictory to the novel, he is pursued by security agents and even his friend Asher via drone in the movie. In the movie, the security agents tell Asher, “You know Jonas. I want you to find him.” Jonas was inevitably chased in the movie, but in the novel it’s completely different. He used his memories of snow to lover his body temperature so the heat-seeking planes couldn’t find him and Gabriel. This is proved when the author states in the novel, “So always, when he heard the aircraft sound, he reached to Gabriel and transmitted memories of snow, keeping some for himself.
