Any kind of medicine you consume has side effects, and birth control is no different from any of them. First off there are several different forms of birth control such as pills, shot, patch, male and female condoms, contraceptive sponge, cervical cap, diaphragm, and many more. It is great that there is a variety of options to meet each individuals need but each other these have their own risks. The shot and patch some users have reported nausea, headaches, and even depression. With the contraceptive sponge, cervical cap, and diaphragm there is an increased risk of toxic shock syndrome. Toxic shock syndrome, or TSS, is a rare but serious condition that usually occurs in women that use tampons, but can cause the patient to develop a high fever, diarrhea, vomiting, and can be followed by hypotension which leads to shock and death. Male or female condoms can cause an allergic reaction and not to mention there is always the possibility of them breaking.
