Teen Activism:Changing Lives
Why is activism important? How has it changed our lives? Activism makes a social or political change. Sometimes even a BIG change. How does activism start? Is it important? Being an activist is a very hard job. From all the time being used to bravery,action,and campaigning, activism is filled with responsibility. So think about it when someone,not far from your age or even exactly your age,is working as an activist. This is called ‘teen activism’, and there are many teen activists.
At first,there are many reasons for someone to start activism. They can be inspired by a single person,animal,or moment. Or they have either faced a personal struggle to even just reading an article. Either way they have a cause they want to change/fight against. For instance there is Faye Carey,who felt sorry about the animals at the pound. That inspired her to help animals to find a home and get out of the pound. Another example is Malala Yosufzai. She was inspired from facing a personal struggle. She wants every girl in the world to have an education. She got the Taliban’s attention, (the Taliban are a group of terrorists) which led to them shooting her in the head. She founded WeStopHate, which is an online website that she says can be helpful for teens that are going through bullying and that it “changes the way they see the world”. She is also working against cyber bullying. Which is a form of bullying, except online.
