Essay On Tapeworm Diet

Improved Essays
The Tapeworm Diet involves the introduction of a tapeworm into the digestive tract so the worm consumes the calories while the host loses weight. One complication of this diet is malnutrition since the tapeworm receives the nutrients from the body--not the host. Another complication is cysts forming from larvae burrowing into the tissues of the body causing immense pain (e.g. eyes, intestines, spinal cord). If the parasite isn’t removed from the body, death can result when the larvae infects the heart. The Lemonade Diet is a fasting diet and can be used to detox the body. However, the body detoxifies itself through its built-in filtration system called the kidneys and the liver. This diet deprives the consumer for many consecutive days
