I believe that everyone should know their history because history is what paved the way for who we are today. Students should know how our forefathers/mothers had to fight for our freedom, education, the right to vote and the list goes on. Students will learn about their economy, society beliefs, style of clothing, types of food, etc. How buildings were built and different art and crafts were made. History can open a whole new world for students. We all should know and be willing to study who made the sacrifice to make all of this possible. …show more content…
They should know about their origin and their culture, where it all began and how it plays a role today’s society. We should know what American-American stood for and what they believed in. They will learn that even though we are different races, colors, social ladder, have different levels of education and many more we are all still one in the same. Students will also learn the true meaning to the words “history repeats itself.” After learning about African-America History students will learn how to reconnect with their past, which will help them to learn a sense of identity. If they are confused about why the country is the way it is now, studying one’s history will show them the root of it
