Villahermosa states, “Some faculty and staff members may be capable of learning to be good shots in stressful situations, but most of them probably wouldn't practice their firearms skills enough to become confident during an actual shooting. Unless they practiced those skills constantly, there would be a high risk that when a shooting situation actually occurred, they would miss the assailant.”
However, while most college campuses have security officers on campus, during the event of a shooting these officers may not be close enough to the shooter to take a shot. Because of the previously stated, college authorities should assign certain faculty members to secretly carry guns. These staff members should be required to sign a confidentiality agreement so that no one knows who's is carrying and who is not.
