Also San Francisco Chronicle, said "turning teaching and learning into a mere exercise in prepping students to test well." Parents and teachers need to know that the standardized tests may help their students, but they will not help all the students. The teachers and parents need to see that these tests do not measure their knowledge of the information they are taught, but rather what they can remember later in life. Standardized testing prevents teachers from teaching the parents well-rounded students because the teachers teach the instructional program for the students to be ready for the tests. The teachers teach the students what is on the test, and in turn some of the students are suffering from it while others allow it for them to help further and better their education. Standardized testing is where all the students are to take a test that they are obligated…

For a couple of reasons, students shouldn’t be required to take state test such as STAAR Tests in order to move on and graduate from high school. Students should not be required to take STAAR Test because it can destroy their confidence, become stressful and some students have testing anxiety. Testing anxiety is not common but I have a family member that does and he has to suffer in his life after high school because of it. Also, the STAAR Test can become another source of stress on top of everything else teenagers stress over. Preston High School should not adhere to a school dress code because it limits self-expression, high initial cost and can be very uncomfortable. Students should not have to wear uniforms at school because students do not want to have to wear the same thing as other students or look alike. Kids like to be themselves and express the things they like or like to do.
