The modern Standard American Diet or “SAD” is a diet based on chemical products, animal fat and refined food loaded with oil, salt and sugar that the majority of Americans consume and induce into their bodies. Needless to say, this diet is anything but nutrients. As a result, this diet causes many health diseases such as obesity, cancer, diabetes, and coronary disease. The problem is also that the amount of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, seeds and nuts recommended, which are full of nutrients, is minimal. Americans believe or want to believe that the Standard American Diet is the proper way to eat; but once they do not achieve optimal health outcomes, they start to eat less or be on “diet” but still within the parameters of the Standard American Diet. Hence, the vicious cycle of counting calories begins without realizing that what really makes them unhealthy is the accumulation of toxins that the body is unable to remove. Raising awareness about where our so called “food” comes from and how to revert this current diet can drastically improve our health.

One way is to consume the food that is actually beneficial to us. Plant-based meals can be highly enjoyable and provide the same or even more benefits to the body. In The China Study by Dr. Campbell, he proves that “people who ate the most animal-based foods got the most chronic disease. Even relatively small intakes of animal-based food were associated with adverse effects. People who ate the most plant-based foods were the healthiest and tended to avoid chronic disease” (7). Indeed, Chinese have a lower percentage in suffering from chronic diseases because plants are an essential and primordial meal to be present at any time. Nutrition goes far beyond eating meat. A plant-based diet may be more than enough to enjoy the benefits of a balanced diet without resorting to animal food and sparing their
