Race is socially constructed through laws, media and popular culture. In different cultures, humans have conceptualized what is feminist and masculinist. The theory of social constructivism is more familiar to me because I believe that cultural context in which a person lives or behaves can determine how people will perceive gender. Many studies have concluded that there is no biological basis for race, but still many legal institutions use biological arguments about race. From my previous knowledge I know that we divide us in White, Black and Yellow. This is more about the perspective of society than the scientific origin of race. Europeans divided the humankind in the Middle Ages as Caucasoid, Negroid and Mongoloid and excluded all the people …show more content…
This includes the Congress and the Supreme Court. The Congress bases its understanding of race by the term that a racial group is a set of individuals whose identity is different regarding physical elements or biological ancestry. We should see race as a form of human interaction and not as a racial categorization. Race includes gender and class relations as humans expand and develop. An example of race discrimination is hoe people in the United States differentiate Latin Americans nationalities. In 1855, Mexicans were classified as racial group in the California Legislature. We have been sharing our genetic material through the years, but we have maintained humankind as a single specie. When U.S society was forming European and Americans gave cultural-behavioral characteristics to each race. Also, they gave superior traits to Europeans and negative ones to Blacks and Indians. I think race is group of ideas about human differences. Each individual has their own racial beliefs or myths about the diversity in humankind including behavior. I believe that our behavior is learned since we are little and it going to be modified and developed within a set of values that we call
