To begin with, many schools do not have the necessary security. Most public schools have one or two armed police officers, roaming throughout the school. At Carroll County Middle School, a sixth grader named Kaci wrote bomb threats on the bathroom stalls. Kaci wrote these threats after being bullied by her classmates. People are cruel, at all ages. Anyone can get fed up and take things to extreme measures. I live in an area where many people go hunting, and kids have easy access to guns. Students can easily sneak a gun, knife, or taser into their backpacks. If teachers had a concealed weapon, many students would not try to attack other students on campus. Lastly, a massive problem with school shootings is intruders. At Sandy Hook Elementary School, twenty children and six adults were killed by Adam Lanza. Adam Lanza’s mom worked at the elementary school, he shot her shortly before going to the elementary school. Teachers were forced to hide kids in cabinets and cupboards. After the police arrived, Adam Lanza killed himself in the school. If Sandy Hook had teachers the knew how to properly use a firearm, many lives could have been saved.
