The most disturbing thing to hear while eating a bowl of cereal and enjoying tv is finding out more than 100 people were killed in Paris due to a terrorist attack. The information is unsettling to take in. Is anyone safe? If 9/11 happened, could there possibly be something more horrifying than that becoming planned right at this moment? It is challenging to feel safe since it was the year of the most school shootings ever. It’s baffling to believe in someone’s mind it is their objective to kill or injure another human being whether for it being for pleasure or for revenge. If this continues in future years, this country will become nonexistent very soon.
The most impacting story of 2015 would have to be the Charleston church shooting. One cannot even be safe when they are practicing religion. Nine people were assassinated by a white male because of a racist motive. Dylan Roof, who committed the crime, was calmly taken to jail in handcuffs while African Americans have died just by the color of their skin.
Even though there were many horrifying things from 2015, there were also joyful ones. Canada began welcoming refugees by the newly elected Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau. He showed the whole world how a country should be when others are in desperate need for help. The welcoming of the Syrian refugees shows how accepting a country can be even when times are tough.
