Acts of Hysteria
The Salem Witch Trials started when a group of girls started dancing and chanting in a set of woods. Later the girls seemed sick.No one truly understood why so the blame was put on the supernatural world. Salem’s citizens were easily swayed by trusting the people higher up in the church and the government. Another large act of mccarthyism took place right after World War II. The Soviet Union gaining power made people in the United States of America frantic. Several politicians started making accusations against people about them being a communist. Several of the accused were actors or highly influential writers. Many argued that there was lack of evidence and the issue ended without anyone being physically harmed.

According to (people.usa.edu), the puritans basically thought fighting the Native Americans was basically fighting the Devil and demons. This was because of the belief that indians were the physical form of demons and they could possess people and that showed their belief that witches were the spiritual form of the Devil. After the King Philip’s War, the English feared the Native Americans greatly and started seeing indians in dark alleys and corners.
