Earth, Water, and Sky was Duckworth's first mural which she created for the University of Chicago in 1968. It was a milestone for her career because it was an 11 foot, 9 inch tall mural made entirely of clay. Another well known piece of her's is Clouds Over Lake Michigan. This 9 foot tall, 27 foot wide mural was constructed in 1976 for the German Dresdner Bank's branch in Chicago. This piece is important because it represents Duckworth's abstract style, mixed with the image of clouds over an important part of the Midwest. Another important piece of Duckworth's art is The Creation. This mural was created for the Congregation Beth Israel Synagogue in Hammond, Indiana in 1984. After visiting the synagogue, she decided to read the bible for inspiration and decided to base the project of the story of creation in the book of Genesis. The mural was in the shape of a spiral and told the story of creation in imagery and words as it went around and how the story continues to this day. Doing this research on Ruth Duckworth taught me a lot about her style of art and what techniques I can use in the future. Her unique abstract technique taught me that art doesn't have to be traditional to be liked and perceived as real art. By learning about her art, I will use her type of style in my work in the future. She also taught me that clay can be used
