As far as the dates go, I would recommend 4th Saturday of October 2016. There are several reasons for selecting those dates. The first is definitely the weather. The desirable weather can help speed runners on their way along the desired 26.2 mile course. In their article "Impact of Weather on Marathon Performance" published in the journal Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, author Matthew Ely and his co-authors concluded that the ideal temperature for running marathons is between 39 degrees to 50 degrees for professional runners (Hamilton, 2007). 2 Name at least two things that could cause the race to be a "catastrophic failure" and likely preclude it from being successfully run the following year. What areas would have to be closely monitored in order to preclude these possible failures? What steps would you recommend be taken in order to mitigate these risks?
To me, thinking about two causes of catastrophic failure that can prevent any future marathons is same as thinking about a start-up companies and causes of their failures. I would like to have temporary video surveillance system installed across a 26.2 miles. A small command center can be setup at police HQ and command team (police officers, volunteers) can monitor them throughout the day. Where there are no cameras, trained volunteers who are also helping with security can take live videos with their own smart phones and send it to command center to view actives in more detail. We will also provide first-aid training to all our volunteers so that can provide help to our participants and spectators on needed basis or in case of any delay of
