To me, thinking about two causes of catastrophic failure that can prevent any future marathons is same as thinking about a start-up companies and causes of their failures. I would like to have temporary video surveillance system installed across a 26.2 miles. A small command center can be setup at police HQ and command team (police officers, volunteers) can monitor them throughout the day. Where there are no cameras, trained volunteers who are also helping with security can take live videos with their own smart phones and send it to command center to view actives in more detail.
