Robotic Pets vs. Real Pets As people develop more technology, the world is moving at a faster rate. Now the world has been introduced to robotic pets. They can do many things like feel, touch, sense and many more. As conversations increasingly talk about this, the real question is can these robotic machines take the place of a man's best friend? There are many pros and cons to robotic pets, but how the world reacts to them is a different situation. As people have been developing more of these robotic pets, the world has come to see if this is a good or bad thing. In Japan, they have produced a new robotic pet, a baby seal named Paro. As Paro has been with more families, it has had a positive effect for the most part (Soto). Paro increased brain activity by 50% after spending 20 minutes with the patients (Soto). In the end, can these machines actually love you? The answer is no. Some may say that even though these pets are just robots they can still provide a relationship with it’s owner. They cuddle with their owner, make their owner feel safe, and they are playful. As this universe is coming up with more technology robotic pets have become a new triumph as some may say. To others this robotic pet is programmed to respect, love and care for you. Some may argue that robotic pets are a great way to learn responsibility, take care of a pet, and have a relationship with it. In the other hand, robotic pets do not need to be fed, or cleaned up after. Because of this, there is such a lack of responsibility. In this case the robotic pet is going to be left in the dust. As with a real dog it has to learn to love their owner through their actions and if they take care of it. In that way, a real relationship is formed with its pet and they have a true bond. So once again, the trouble lies in a stimulation of love
