Essay On Roanoke

Roanoke August 1590 English explores john white sailed to Roanoke island. The first contact they had was with a native in Roanoke island the native approached one of the ship with a canoe alone. They became friends with the native in Roanoke so the English started an expedition on the island. They took two natives back with them to England; one was name Manteo and the other native name was Wanchis. To prove what they found on there trip, the queen was delighted and wanted to expand more on Roanoke. The relationship between the native and English soon turned into a battle it all started off with a silver cup. The natives thought the silver cup was an exchange of gifts not knowing what the English were planning to burn their village and the crops. Scholars believe that the houses where taken down with the attempt to be re- assemble else where. Others believe that they left off the island and drown in the sea. Many experts agree that the colonists most likely went to Croatan tribe to the main land, but no contact was ever made. In 1703 one group of explores stated they found a tribe of natives who had blond hair and blue eyes and practice Christianity but scholars are skeptical of these sightings, mainly because no fiscal evidence linked to any native tribe to the lost colony. Some Scholars believe drought drove away the colonist. Next three century's the story of the lost colonist in Roanoke remains a local legend. Archaeologist visit Roanoke every summer to keep searching for clues of the lost
